Za’Sean Davis Obituary, Indianapolis: Quinton Sanders Charged After Deadly Shooting

A tragic shooting on Indianapolis’ far east side has left a family grieving the loss of a young man and the wider community shaken by violence. Authorities say 31-year-old Quinton Sanders is facing a preliminary murder charge in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend during an incident early Sunday morning on James Run Way.

According to court documents, the situation began when Sanders was inside a vehicle with his ex-girlfriend. Investigators say an argument escalated, during which Sanders allegedly took her phone and forced her out of the car. The woman’s current boyfriend reportedly called her repeatedly during the incident out of concern for her safety.

Police say Sanders later drove the woman home, but tensions continued once they arrived. Court records indicate she told him she was afraid and no longer wanted him present. As she walked toward her boyfriend’s vehicle, investigators allege Sanders approached and fired multiple shots through the car window, striking the victim inside.

The victim has been identified as Za’Sean Davis of Indianapolis. Loved ones describe him as a familiar and well-regarded presence in the community, noting that he attended Arsenal Technical High School. His sudden death has left family and friends devastated as they struggle to process the loss.

Officers responding to the scene were able to detain Sanders as he allegedly attempted to leave. He was taken into custody without further incident. During questioning, he reportedly stated, “I am not a bad person… I’m not no monster or anything,” while investigators continued gathering evidence.

Sanders has been booked on a preliminary murder charge as the investigation continues. Prosecutors are expected to make further charging decisions in the coming days.

As the case develops, Za’Sean Davis’s loved ones are left mourning a life taken too soon and searching for justice while remembering the person he was beyond the tragedy.
